Unilateral:
Trauma+Tumour
- Trauma=
Spinal cord trauma + fracture malunion talar/calcaneal + consequences of
Anterior compartment syndrome + Burn
- Tumour=
Spinal cord tumour (* if no H/O traume, need to look for spinal cord
tumour)
Bilateral :
HSMN+ Freidrich's Ataxia + Syriongomyelia + (Atrophy
+ Dystrophy + Palsy + Paresis)
Atrophy= Spinal muscular
atrophy , Dystrophy = Muscular Dystrophy, Palsy = Cerebral palsy , Hereditary
spastic paraparesis
Mechanism:
imbalance among :
1. Weak : Anterior
tibialis+ Peroneus muscle + 2. Antagonised by Posterior tibialis +
Peroneus longus
Pes cavus means long term neuropathy,
hence chance of underlying aetiology is congenital.
